Detica has appointed Kevin Rutledge as its new Head of Energy and Utilities. Kevin will have responsibility for expanding the company’s Energy and Utilities practice capabilities as part of Detica’s increasing commitment to the commercial sector.

Kevin will spearhead Detica’s commitment to SmartReach, a consortium comprising leading British companies Arqiva, BT and Detica, that is proposing an end-to-end solution to the government’s multi-billion pound smart meter initiative.

And with cyber security now clearly identified by the government as a key national priority, Kevin will also oversee Detica’s services in helping to protect Critical National Infrastructure such as electricity and gas grids from cyber attack, bringing Detica’s experience of government, national security and commercial work from other sectors to the energy and utilities arena.

In addition, based on the company’s expertise in areas such as customer behaviour, customer segmentation and fraud protection, Kevin will help to tailor Detica’s data analysis capabilities to the sector as it becomes increasingly data driven.

Richard Watson, Commercial Client Director at Detica said: “As smart metering, smart grids and protecting Critical National Infrastructure becomes increasingly important and more complex, the energy and utilities sector is facing some new and emerging challenges. Kevin’s priority will be to work with clients who require expertise in data analysis and cyber security so that the sector can meet these important challenges.”

Kevin Rutledge, Head of Energy and Utilities at Detica said: “Detica has a great track record in areas such as data analytics and security which are becoming increasingly important for energy and utilities in the world of smart energy. I am looking forward to helping the company bring their unique and innovative solutions to the sector.”

Kevin has over 15 years’ experience in energy and utilities and comes to Detica from HCL AXON where he was head of Head of Energy & Utilities, EMEA. Previously, he was with Wipro Technologies where he was Vice President and Head of European Utilities Consulting.

Kevin has a B.A in Engineering Sciences from Oxford and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.
